With the USB Ultrasonic Interface you can connect your existing Ultrasonic Motion Sensor (MT108) directly to the USB port on your PC or notebook - no need for a separate data collection interface. Produce motion graps showing displacement, velocity and acceleration. Export motion data to Excel or calculators. Range from 0.4 to 10m. Note: For use with any PC or notebook with a USB port (Windows 98SE or later). Requires Ultrasonic Motion Sensor (Cat. No. MT108) . |

The Tainlab USB Driver Reaction Tester comprises an adjustable chair with accelerator, brake and clutch pedals. It connects to the USB port on your computer. When used with the Tainlab Driving Reaction software it provides an inter-active way for students to learn the concepts of speed, vehicle mass, road and tyre friction, and driver reaction time. Measure driver reaction time and demonstrate concepts of velocity and acceleration in the context of a driving situation. The software works by displaying random sequences of actual photographs of road traffic scenes. - Accelerate to speed limit. Try to maintain correct speed while watching the speedometer. - Watch the road scene images - look out for speed limit changes and distractions. - When the an image is displayed that requires you to stop, press the brake pedal. - Use the brake pedal to control rate of deceleration to a safe stop. Calculates reaction time, stopping time, braking distance. View a graph of distance, velocity and acceleration during braking. Modify parameters such as vehicle load, type of road surface and condition of brakes to demonstrate the effect on stopping distances.

The Mechanics Pulley is excellent for measuring velocities and accelerations of carts, air-track gliders and falling objects. The Pulley offers far greater precision than light gates or the Ultrasonic Motion Sensor, taking more than 50 readings per metre. Unlike most "Smart" pulleys, the Tainlab pulley can distinguish between positive and negative motion to give true displacement measurement. Velocity and acceleration are calculated and plotted by the computer.

For displacement, velocity and acceleration measurements. The Ultrasonic Motion Sensor offers greater freedom for monitoring bouncing balls and students walking around a room. Produce motion graphs showing displacement, velocity and acceleration. However it does not give the same accuracy as the pulley and light gates in air track and cart activities. For use with the TecMaster, TecFour and newer Fielder interfaces (with ultrasonic port fitted). The Ultrasonic Motion Sensor may also be connected directly to your computer USB port with our low cost USB Ultrasonic Interface (Cat. No. US110)

The turntable is mounted on a low friction bearing and has a diameter of 450mm. In conjunction with a mechanics pulley and an accelerometer, centripetal acceleration can be measured over a range of angular velocities. A pulley mounting bracket is supplied with the turntable. (Pulley and accelerometer not included). |
